We would like to introduce and thank the partners of the amyloidosis alliance. They help us in a daily work. As we have often said, there is strength in numbers. It is a sentence to remember because it is real. Thanks to our partners who have decided to support us in the fight against amyloidosis, we have become stronger. But above all, we are even more numerous in the fight against amyloidosis.
Pharmaceutical organisations
Pharmaceutical organisations and the people who work in them are the real heroes in our lives. They are warriors fighting against a hundred rare diseases that have no cure.
Every day, they try to use their knowledge to help science find treatments that will allow thousands of patients to live better with their disease.
In our fight against amyloidosis, several organisations have decided to support us: Alnylam pharmeceuticals, Akcea therapeutics, Pfizer and SOBI. They all have the same goal: to find a way to relieve the pain of people with the disease.
Eurordis against rare diseases in Europe
Eurordis brings together a total of 1000 rare disease patient organisations across Europe. On this continent, no less than 30 million people are living with a rare disease. Eurordis has therefore chosen to bring together all rare disease patient organisations in order to improve the daily lives of these people.
Just like Amyloidosis Alliance, Eurordis believes that by strengthening the patient voice and connecting patients, families, and health professionals, we will succeed in advancing science. Its aim is to improve the quality of life of people living with a rare disease. To achieve this, they are working across borders to bring together all our knowledge and hope to have a better chance of reaching their goal.
EIDOS and its fight against ATTR amyloidosis
Amyloidosis is a rare disease that can develop in different forms. One of these forms is ATTR amyloidosis. This form of amyloidosis usually affects people over the age of sixty because of the aging of their cells. The organs affected by this form of amyloidosis are the heart, the auditory system, the digestive system and the peripheral nervous system. Finally, the symptoms it causes are shortness of breath, fatigue, heart failure and carpal tunnel syndrome. If you recognize yourself in the symptoms of this disease, consult a doctor quickly.
EIDOS is therefore an association that fights against this disease. To this end, it is currently developing an experimental oral drug for TRTA called acoramidis (AG10). This drug is a molecule that aims to stabilise the TTR and prevent the formation of amyloid fibrils that cause ATTR.
The development of this drug would be a real breakthrough in overcoming the disease and give patients hope for other forms of amyloidosis. We therefore support EIDOS as much as they support us and hope that they will succeed in their goal.
